Kamoauli LLC is committed to maintaining an indigenous focus and proud of our strong native heritage. Our crew members represent a diverse array of training, education and experience that includes U.S. Coast Guard certified Captains, graduates from the Maritime Academy, experienced sailors and educators, and those actively involved in community organizations throughout Hawai‘i. With a wealth of experience and knowledge, the Kamoauli crew continuously strives to foster a learning environment that will provide an interactive, memorable and entertaining educational experience while staying true to our native culture and traditions.
M I S S I O N
Kamoauli seeks to perpetuate Hawaiian historical and cultural understanding of the landscapes and ocean of O'ahu's coastline aboard a unique, place-based educational platform.
As a social enterprise, we seek to build a resilient and prosperous future for both people and places. Our three-fold plan to achieve this includes: (1) investing a portion of all proceeds into the community for ʻāina based projects; (2) providing local job opportunities; and (3) subsidizing the costs to provide school-aged youth the opportunity to experience educational programs aboard Kamoauli. Visitors are directly supporting these efforts whenever they choose to sail with us.

VISION
From our founding in 2017, Kamoauli LLC has always been primarily focused on creating a place-based, mission-driven classroom at sea.
We are inspired and motivated to use our platform to share Hawaiian history, culture, tradition and technology from an indigenous perspective along the O'ahu coastline aboard our 46’ traditional double-hulled, Polynesian-built sailing canoe. The expansive view from the decks of Kamoauli as she travels along O'ahu's waterways will provide a unique perspective to not only tell, but to actually show the mo’oleleo o ka ‘aina, -- the stories of ancestral knowledge connected to the various features and places within sight: the mauna, the pu’u ridges, the auwai, the valleys, and the kahakai. Guided by the kupuna, the wahi pana - the historical places, traditions, and beliefs of kanaka maoli - Kamoauli offers personalized experiences for our guests by providing an enriched understanding and appreciation for Hawaiian values, resources, community, history, culture and innovations.
Kamoauli is dedicated to offering the youth of Hawaii a chance to see and learn about their home from a different vantage point - the ocean. From this perspective, an expansion on their own value, sense of place, pride and strong connection through the heritage of their homeland will be inspired. This opportunity for a unique learning experience will help to foster hope for the future by connecting them to the legacy of their past through meaningful and memorable educational experiences.
